Edward Miller at his desk in Daphne, ALI was born in Mobile, Alabama in the late 1970’s to parents who sent me to play outside and told me not to come home until the streetlights came on.  I’ve worked toward reaching that balance between freedom and responsibility my entire life, and that is the reason I became a lawyer.  I want to help people feel secure in their choices, all while honoring their commitments to one another.

After high school in Mobile, I attended Duke University where I majored in Public Policy and minored in French and English.  During my junior year, I studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, where I lived for about a year.  Two weeks after I graduated from Duke, I relocated to Washington, DC, where I worked on Capitol Hill.  I stayed in DC for four years, transitioning into raising money for congressional candidates, and later working as a lobbyist to secure appropriations for Alabama towns, cities, and schools.

In 2004, I began my studies at the University of Alabama School of Law, graduating in 2007.  During law school, I started a local foods non-profit called Homegrown Alabama and directed a short documentary film on Restorative Justice principles that you can watch here.  I started practicing law at the former Miller, Hamilton, Snider & Odom immediately following graduation, and made the transition to its successor firm, Jones Walker, in 2008.

Nine years later in 2017, I left Jones Walker to start The Miller Firm and, with a brief detour back into politics to work for a U.S. Senate candidate / now Senator, I am very pleased to be doing the work that I am doing.

Edward Miller with his familyI grew up on Duke basketball, Alabama football, playing music of all kinds, listening to music of all kinds, and dogs.  I live in Old Town Daphne with my wife, Courtney, our two boys, and our two dogs – one a rescue, the other a stray.  I was baptized, raised, confirmed, and married in Government Street Presbyterian Church in downtown Mobile.

I believe in connections between people – what people can accomplish if they share a vision and work together.  This is the primary reason I wanted to have my own law firm, and I hope it will be a primary reason you will consider hiring me as your attorney.
